Re-discovering Your Best Self

“For you created my inmost being,
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made”.

Psalm 139:13–14

God created us just the way we are with a great love. We aren’t a mistake. We are fearfully and wonderfully made by a loving God. You might find that truth difficult to connect with when we’re confronted with the devastating consequences of the ecological and climate crisis the earth faces. You might be feeling uncertain, anxious, low, disorientated perhaps even a bit lost about your place your role in all of this. You might be holding some big questions: “Where do I find hope and resilience?”, “What can I contribute?”, ‘Do I want to continue leading my life this way?”, “What would give me agency and meaning in these times of crisis?”, “What is God calling me to do?”, “Where Is God in all of this?”

Going on a retreat for Christians is an opportunity to ground ourselves in our true identity in God, to re-discover our true self and to feel his love and confidence in us. It is from this place, our “inner soul”, that we are best placed to make decisions and choices about the big things in our lives: work, relationships, love, how we might make a difference in the struggle for climate justice and our relationship with God.

Re discovering your best self is an online retreat in two aims. The first aim is an inner journey exploring what your life and experience of God have taught you about who you truly are with all your God given gifts. The second stage is an outer journey. An exploration of how you can be the
best expression of your true self and respond to what God is calling you to in the present ecological and climate crisis.

The ‘Re-Discovering your Best Self’ retreat is designed to help Christian Climate Action members connect to and have confidence in their God-given talents and what they can contribute to the climate change movement and in particular Christian Climate Action.

It seeks to:

  • Create a safe, prayerful and creative space to reflect on who we are at our best.
  • Connect more deeply to our God-given purpose, talents, values and what we can bring to the climate change movement and Christian Climate Action.
  • Build even deeper levels of trust, support and community within Christian Climate Action.
  • Help participants see themselves anew. Releasing energy, potential and a sense of fulfilment in our lives more generally.
