TWO MORE CHURCH OF ENGLAND DIOCESES COMIT TO DIVEST FROM FOSSIL FUELS
This week we have heard the exciting news that both York Diocese and Southwark Diocese have committed to divest from fossil fuels. This is an exciting step forward, as there are now only a few remaining diocese still left to divest.
OXFORD MOTION PASSES IN SYNOD
Other great news this week is that Synod members passed a motion put forward by the Diocese of Oxford. The motion urged investment in renewable energy, called for further theological training in creation care for lay and ordained people, and asked the UK Government to review its planning regulations ‘to facilitate the installation of renewable technologies’ for listed buildings and in conservation areas.
