This is a message asking for volunteers – not for Christian Climate Action, but for the London Catholic Worker House. The LCWH has helped CCA out extensively in the past and so we really want to help them out too if we can.
It is SUCH a great charity which is a community house in East London. It provides accommodation and support for homeless and destitute asylum seekers and other migrants. More info available on their website.
They are looking for some different types of volunteers:
- Trustees. People who have experience in this area. For this role people can live in London or elsewhere.
- People who are able to help support guests at the house. This can either be consistent support, or someone to act in a supporting role intermittently when a member of the community want to take respite for a while.
- People who have some knowledge about buildings, maintenance, or DIY. For this role the person would need to live in London.
- Someone who has experience in being a charity law solicitor. This person could live anywhere in the country.
- Someone who can volunteer with driving (does not need to own own car). Would need to live in London.
- Admin volunteer. Would need to live in London.
- Someone with the time and experience to volunteer with website building and maintenance. Could live anywhere in the country.
- Someone with experience dealing with local authorities. Could live anywhere in the country.
- Someone with experience working with migrants or homeless individuals. Would need to live in London.
- Someone who has experience as an immigration advisor. This volunteer role wouldn’t be advising the guests, but would be advising staff. Could live anywhere in the country.
- The house also relies on donations for most of their furniture or equipment. If anyone in London is getting rid of a good bit of furniture, they would appreciate assessing whether it would be useful to them.
If you might be able to support with any of the roles above, please do get in contact with the London Catholic Worker by email: londoncatholicworker@yahoo.co.uk
Many thanks everyone 💚
