What will the pilgrimage involve?
On Saturday 9th September, join Christian Climate Action, Faiths4Change, Friends of Port Sunlight River Park and local groups on a pilgrimage around Port Sunlight River Park for the Season of Creation.
It is a 3km walk that will look at the use of this reclaimed land from its construction by Lever’s, through use as landfill, to the creation of this biodiverse green space, focusing on how we have shaped the landscape and how can we take responsibility for our waste.
The event is open to all faiths and none, at the end we will gather for a picnic. Toilets are available at the picnic area which is 600m from the start. The walk is on surfaced paths with some steep inclines. Please contact us for access information. It’s really worth bringing binoculars if you have them.
Please assemble from 10.15 for 10.30 start.
HOW TO GET THERE:
Port Sunlight station is 15 minutes walk away. There is a toilet there.
Buses from Chester and Birkenhead stop at Shore Drive, 5 minutes walk away.
There’s a small car park with additional street parking on Dock Road North.
