The UK is hosting one of the world’s largest arms fairs at the ExCel in London next month

- Military emissions fuel climate change, accounting for 5.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, according to a 2022 estimate by international experts.
- War devastates biodiversity and destroys ecosystems including Iraq’s wetlands and Afghanistan’s forests
- Weapons of war make matters worse in climate vulnerable countries like Yemen
- As climate change tightens it’s grip and resource scarcity causes conflict and migration in countries like Sudan it is likely that these weapons will be used more and more widely against vulnerable people
- The impact of the arms trade is an issue of climate justice
If you want to do something about this, join CCA on 12th September (the opening day of the Arms Fair).
8.30 – 9.30am group vigil and die-in
Please email us if you can be there with us.
9.30am until the evening we will then to hold the Arms Fair with at least one person in prayer. We will be alongside other groups who are organising rallies, talks and workshops throughout the day to mark the need for migrant justice.
There are two other days on which you can offer support:
Thursday 7th September (during the week when the Arms Fair is set up) is No Faith In War and there will be worship throughout the day from about 9am to 6pm.
Friday 8th September, (again during the week when the Arms Fair is set up) is climate action day and Extinction Rebellion are part of a coalition planning to hold a rally, educational events and theatrical actions.
