Some members of CCA are joining in a march to Farnborough Airport, which is being run by Extinction Rebellion UK and some partner groups, including Farnborough Noise, Blackwater Valley Friends of the the Earth and Alton Climate Action Network.

WHEN? Saturday 27th Jan 2024, 11:00-16:00

WHERE? The March starts at The Meads, GU14 7RT. Speakers from 13:00 at The Ively Gate, GU14 0RP, The march will go to the main gate of Farnborough Airport.

WHAT ARE WE ASKING FOR? We demand an end to private flights and expansion

🛩️ Farnborough Airport is already Europe’s busiest private jet hub. It is now looking to expand to allow 40% more capacity, flying in the face of the Paris agreement. A flight in a private jet is roughly 30 to 40 times more harmful to the environment per passenger mile than one in a normal passenger plane. These expansion plans are being made when millions of people across the world are already experiencing the devastating effects on their lives of climate change, and when scientists are issuing urgent calls for rapid reductions in the use of fossil fuels in order to keep us all safe. It’s simply unacceptable that a few very wealthy people put their own desires for luxury and convenience over the rights of ordinary people for a peaceful healthy life on a habitable planet.

CAN I LINK UP WITH OTHERS FROM CCA?

There are people from Christian Climate Action already going to the march. Some will be wearing their CCA t-shirt (showing an XR hourglass logo on the front, with a cross included, and the words Christian Climate Action on the back). You can look out for these people on the march.
