Stop Rosebank Prayer Vigil

Wed 1st May, Gather by 11am

St John’s Waterloo’s gardens, London (SE1 8TY)

On May Day, CCA will be gathering in central London for an outside prayer vigil focused on Rosebank. We will be gathering at St John’s Waterloo Garden, a short walk from Waterloo Station, and will then be walking together to the location of the vigil. Please be at the gardens in time to set off promptly at 11am. Please come dressed for the weather.

Rosebank is the biggest undeveloped oil and gas field in the North Sea, at nearly 500m barrels. In September 2023, the UK government approved an application to start developing the field. Burning Rosebank’s oil and gas would create more CO2 than the combined emissions of all 28 low-income countries in the world, including Uganda, Ethiopia and Mozambique. In other words, the climate pollution from this one UK field would be more than the 700 million people in the world’s poorest countries create in a year. These are the same countries that have contributed the least to the climate crisis but which are already experiencing among the worst impacts of a warming planet. Come pray with us that this project won’t go ahead.
