A Day Pushing For Fossil-Fuel-Free Finance

On the 24th April, we’re going to be in London, focussing our efforts on two targets that can transform fossil fuel financing. Please do join us for any part of the day that you are able to.

First stop – Lloyds Bank Head Office

Meet time: 12midday

Location: 25 Gresham Street, London, EC2V 7HN.

Lloyds is a key bank when it comes to transforming the banking sector. If Lloyds was to make the commitment to become a fossil free bank, it would completely transform ethical banking possibilities. At Lloyds, CCA will be doing some staff engagement by handing out leaflets and wild flower seeds. We will be highlighting to them their potential, and the crucial role they could play in tackling the climate emergency.

We will leave Lloyds at around 1:30pm and travel take a 30minute journey to DEC HQ (same journey time by walking or public transport)

Second stop – Disasters Emergency Committee Head Office

Meet time: 2pm

Location: DEC Secretariat, 17-21 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7G

DEC is an organisation with the key aim of supporting communities in times of crisis. However, DEC has Barclays as their bank. This means that the money donated to DEC is also being channelled into the biggest funder of fossil fuels in Europe since 2016.

When an organisation like DEC chooses Barclays, this gives the bank social licence and political influence, as it can present itself as a bank associated with positive causes – instead of one which is bankrolling climate collapse. Barclays can then use this reputation to secure fossil fuel expansion deals.

We will be praying for DEC and the staff who make their banking and finance decisions.

We will leave at 3pm
