Weekly Rosebank Vigils and Surprise Visit to the Palace

Christian Climate Action held prayerful protest and vigils outside Labour HQ, on the 6 Wednesday’s leading up to the election. We were urging the Labour Party – if it formed the next government – to call a moratorium on the Rosebank Oil Field development. Letters were either handed in or posted to Ed Miliband on each occasion. By the morning of 5th July we had a Labour Government, and so the CCA Wednesday banner team went into action, and decided to coordinate their visit to the Palace with those of both Rishi Sunak & Keir Starmer… Both BBC & Sky coverage of the Palace showed the CCA banners in place. Later the banners also visited Downing Street.

What’s Next for the banners?

Every Wednesday during July the banners will join the regular vigil that CCA holds outside of parliament from 11am-3pm. Depending on circumstances the banners will either be with the Vigil, or on the opposite side of the road (Parliament Green side).

What else can you do?

It’s going to be really important to educate all the new MPs about Rosebank (and to remind the MPS who kept their seats). The Stop Rosebank campaign is currently updating its recommended letter that can be sent to MPs. Their new “Recommended MP Actions” will be live from approximately the 20th July. You will be able to find them here: https://www.stopcambo.org.uk/act (currently the old resources aimed at the previous government are listed there).
