Christian Climate Action are holding a vigil in the London area on Friday 26th July and we would love for you to join us
Where and when: Meeting at Cafe Concerto on 43 Whitehall for 11am then walking to the vigil outside Desnez, 3 Whitehall Place to start at 11.30am.
We stand in solidarity with the international movement demanding people come together to sign up to a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty – a global plan to bring a fast and fair end to the era of coal, oil and gas.
A whole host of organisations, activists, faith groups and countries all over the world are asking our governments to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative, including Just Stop Oil, Global Justice Now, Rapid Transition Alliance, the European Parliament and the World Health Organisation.
Will you join us in calling for this treaty? We will be standing or sitting quietly, and peacefully praying.
The Pacific islands Vanuatu and Tuvalu have called on nation-states to join them in developing a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. They have been supported by the World Health Organization, the European Parliament and thousands of others. We want the UK to join them.
Revd James Grote, Baptist Minister, said:
When I see people losing everything they have because of flood or fire, and people dying because of extreme heat, I want to despair, but as Christians we are called to hope and to speak out for justice. We can’t fix this by driving electric cars or doing our recycling, we need everyone to come together, which is why we are praying and asking governments all over the world to work together for our survival.
Christian Climate Action invites everyone of any faith or none to join the vigil Fri 26th July 11- 2. Location tbc – check back soon for where we will be.
If you can’t come
- Sign the call for the treaty as an individual or an organisation
- Sign the ‘faith letter’ as an individual or as a church
