INFORMATION FOR THE TOGETHER ALLIANCE SERVICE AND MARCH
In this document you will find information about the event, children’s activities, meeting points and travel between the church and the main and short march routes.
We will have stewards in Christian Climate Action vests at the service and on the march. Please do ask them if you need anything, and be patient as they try to help.
Pre-march ecumenical service
The address for the church is 1 Kennington Road, London SE1 7QP
The what3words is ///brick.palms.boats

The pre march service will be 10.30 – 11.15am at Oasis Church Waterloo. Doors will open for the service at 10.15am.
There will be children’s activities available during the service – please ask a steward.
There’s a lift for anyone with mobility issues, and there is also a hearing loop.
Travel from the church to the march
The nearest tube stations to the church are Lambeth North and Waterloo.
Lambeth North to Marble Arch on the tube (Bakerloo line to Oxford Circus, change to Central Line) will probably take around 35-40 minutes if you walk at a reasonable speed. This includes a 5 minutes walk from church to station and about 10 minutes from Marble Arch down Park Lane. Neither Lambeth North nor Marble Arch are step-free.
Waterloo to Green Park on the tube is slightly longer and involves more walking however there are no changes (just the Jubilee Line between the two stations) and both stations are step free, although wheelchair users may need a small platform ramp and we are told that platform staff will be there to assist. It will take around 40-45 minutes if you are not using the step free access to access the platforms (allow extra time to walk and for the lifts if you are). This includes a 10 minutes walk between the church and Waterloo station and a 20-25 minute walk to get to the meeting point on Park Lane. If the walk on Park Lane is too much, there is an accessible starting zone near the front of the march, outside the Intercontinental Hotel, 1 Hamilton Place, W1J 7QY. This is only 10 minute walk from Green Park station, along Piccadilly.
If there are notices when you get on the tube that Marble Arch or Green Park are overcrowded, you can also get off either way at Bond Street station which is a 15 minute walk to our Bloc. Bond Street station is also on the Elizabeth Line.
Another alternative is to use Hyde Park tube station (on the Piccadilly line so you would need to change) which is close to the front of the march and about 10 minute walk to the Christian bloc. However this station is likely to be the most crowded. It is not step free.
Map and photo below shows the accessible route from the church into Waterloo station concourse. There is a ramp approximately where we have marked the X.

All these timings are based on an averagely fit walking speed and might be longer if you walk more slowly or there are large crowds to get through.
The 148 bus goes from stop B (see map below) very close to the church and we expect that it would get you relatively close to the start point, but we don’t know exactly how close, as it will be on diversion because it usually goes up Park Lane. Please check https://tfl.gov.uk/bus/status/ for updates.

The march
The main march assembles from noon on Park Lane. It will set off at about 1pm. The Christian bloc is towards the end of the march within Bloc I which is the Faith and BAME Bloc. The what3words for our assembly point is ///extend.digs.blues and the maps below show the location and the location of the nearby tube stations.

We will have activities for children to do while waiting for the march to start, and things to to make the march more fun for them. Look out for Rachel and Sharon, our two vicars who will be coordinating our children’s activities.
Please alert one of our stewards if you are concerned about a lost or found child or vulnerable adult.
The main march will make its way onto Piccadilly towards Green Park Tube Station before turning onto Regent Street and then onto Pall Mall. The march will continue along Pall Mall towards Trafalgar Square, and then turn onto Whitehall where it will finish.
Short march
A shorter, accessible march will be gathering from 1pm at the top of Whitehall, next to Trafalgar Square. We will have someone to meet you there from 1pm. Look out for the p Building, Trafalgar Square, WC2N 5EJ. See photo below. The what3words is ///birds.arch.sushi

Charing Cross station (Northern line from Waterloo, Bakerloo line from Lambeth North) is the nearest station to the short route starting point (less than 5 minutes walk). There is no step-free access to underground lines at this station.
Westminster tube station (Jubilee line from Waterloo) is the nearest accessible station to the short route starting point. The Jubilee line is step free from train to platform and a lift is available from platform to street level. Westminster station is about a 10 minute walk to the gathering point for the short march.

The map above shows the stations and direction you go in to get to the short march assembly point.
The 12 and 453 bus from the church (Stop B, there is a map further up in the information) go to Trafalgar Square (alight at Trafalgar Square stop). As there is a possibility that buses in the area may be on diversion, please check https://tfl.gov.uk/bus/status/ for updates.
Approximate timings for the marches and routes map
- 12pm: Main march assembles at Park Lane
- 1pm: Main march leaves Park Lane AND Short route assembles at Trafalgar Square/Whitehall
- 2pm: Front of main march arrives Trafalgar Square/Whitehall
- 2pm: Speeches start on stages
- 3pm: Music event starts in Trafalgar
- 6pm: Event finishes

Music and Speeches
There will be two stages with speeches and music, on Whitehall and in Trafalgar Square. It is expected that Trafalgar Square will be very busy. We understand that it will be fenced off with only one entrance/exit on the northwest corner and may operate a one out, one in policy.
Leaving the march from Whitehall / Trafalgar Square
This is where both the main and the short routes will end. See above for information about Westminster and Charing Cross stations which are the two nearest.
Toilets
There are no designated toilet facilities at the starting point for the main march. We suggest using the toilets in cafes nearby and en route. There are accessible toilets in Hyde Park, the Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House on Piccadilly, in Fortnum & Mason on Piccadilly, in the National Gallery at Trafalgar Square, in Trafalgar Square itself (but note that Trafalgar Square will be fenced off) and in the National Portrait Gallery on St. Martins Place and in Charing Cross mainline station.
I dare to look beyond what I am told is possible
and begin to prophetically demand what is needed.
I dare to step into your love that casts out fear –
to find you in the gritty truth outside of my comfort zone.
Lord Creator,
In your love, I dare..
