Beyond Fossil Fuels Together vigil and fast

CCA vigil at Parliament Square

As our planet faces floods, fire and food shortages, the UK government is continuing to subsidise and protect a major cause of the climate crisis –  the fossil fuel industry.

CCA MEMBERS ARE GETTING INVOLVED IN BEYOND FOSSIL FUELS TOGETHER

CCA is supporting an initiative set up by ‘Beyond Fossil Fuels Together’. BFFT is a group of people of faith who are horrified by our government’s collusion with fossil fuel companies and want to build an independent broad-based coalition of individuals and groups to speak up. They are hoping to help people new to activism to step into action.

BFFT is asking that the UK government STOP issuing new licences for fossil fuel exploration and extraction, and STOP subsidising fossil fuels.

WHAT CAN I DO?

Members of CCA are getting involved in a silent vigil outside Parliament from the 6th of March – all day and all night, for a fortnight. The vigil will be a legal, peaceful and powerful act of public witness. If you feel called to come more out of your comfort zone, you can take on the challenge of holding vigil through the dark hours of the night. The group is also inviting people who can’t get to London to organise a local vigil in support or to carry out a 24 hour fast from wherever they are.
