Millions of young people have woken up to the environmental crisis and are looking for a framework in which to make sense of what is happening.
At Christian Climate Action we believe that the Church has something prophetic and powerful to say about the destruction of God’s creation and are encouraging churches to step up to fill this need.
We invite you and your Church for a day of prayers and hymns for creation. Let’s take our faith out from the pews and into the wider world. The day will include:
- An Introduction to CCA talk
- A workshop on non-violent direct action, civil disobedience and faith
- The chance to celebrate communion together, outdoors in creation
- An art workshop to make art for the Rebellion
- Discussions about how we can all be involved in the April Rebellion which begins on the same day
- Time to socialise together and eat together
Please note that plans will be fluid and may change at the last minute. If we are unable to stay in one location we may decide to have an impromptu ‘Camino’ and walk in the local area.
This event will take place as part of the first day of the April Rebellion. There will be other activities in the vicinity of our which are part of this Rebellion. You can commit to the coming to the Rebellion here.
As with any Rebellion there is likely to be a police presence. We can’t promise certainty but we can say that CCA is experienced in protest and on 9th April we are planning for an environment that is suitable for those who are rebelling for the first time. You will feel both stretched and reassured. You will be part of a supportive community and you will have opportunities to learn, worship and plan to take part in actions in a way that is appropriate for you. We have a saying in XR: ‘We are all crew’, and so we will expect everyone present to contribute to creating this environment, including those of you attending for the first time.
