On Saturday 12th September than 40 Christians from across denominations held a prayer vigil outside GB News headquarters in Paddington, London. We asked GB News and its co-owner, hedge-fund manager Sir Paul Marshall, to help people to come together to face the challenges of our overheating earth and for GB News to tell the truth about the climate.

The hour long silent vigil, which was organised by Christian Climate Action to take place during the Season of Creation, opened with the singing of of a new hymn recently published on the Joint Public Issues Team website calling on Christians to choose a better story of love and welcome. 

In conjunction with the vigil, we sent an open letter to Sir Paul Marshall, who is an outspoken Christian, noting this summer’s heatwaves and drought, and last winter’s floods and the costs in human lives and to the UK economy. The letter appeals to him to save lives by speaking out about this.

Melanie Nazareth, aged 65 from London, who was at the prayer vigil said:

“I know that GB News co-owner Sir Paul Marshall is a Christian and that Jesus’s words will be important to him as they are to me. I am here because of that. I do think that GB News could do a great service by telling people the truth about what’s going on. They could explain that burning gas, oil and coal is the main reason our earth is overheating and that we urgently need to switch to renewable energy. They could help people to come together to face the challenges of climate change. I was praying for this.”
